2023 Presidents Cup and Scotch Cup / Gauging Member Interest

The Presidents Cup and Scotch Cup are two limited field special events the club puts on annually.

The Presidents Cup will be here before we know it, commencing in February and continuing through March. Briefly it is match play in a bracketed format, where winners move on. A 32 player field would be nice.

The Scotch Cup is a competition against Laguna Woods Mens Club. It is held in July, and often includes a Wednesday round at Laguna Woods. This competition is limited to 18 players.

I will be posting more on these events, but for now we would just like to hear from members if they think they might be interested in participating in one or both of these. If there is enough interest that exceeds the positions, we may include some qualifying rounds during our normal Thursday events.

Please use the "Contact CMSGA" form in the right column of any webpage to send us a note. Mention the cups you are interested in, and make sure to include your name.

This is not a commitment on your part, just an indication of interest.

Thank you,

Jeff

  1. I doubt I’ll have the game or confidence to compete in either, but I’m proud that the club holds these events. The caliber of competition gives our club credibility. We’re old but we’re the real deal. /Christi Whittemore

  2. I like and have participated in both events. The President's Cup is currently our club's only match play format, which for many is a different and fun way to approach a golf competition. And I like being part of a team (Go CMSGA!) hosting another club's team, and then getting to be hosted at another club's course.

  3. I love match play and hope to play in the 2023 Presidents Cup. Less interested in the Scotch, but am glad that others enjoy it.
