We had 15 Member Guest teams.  The winning team was John Carroll and his guest, Matt Chavez, combining for a 9 under par net 61.

We had 32 teams in our members without guests division.  The lowest scoring team was Sharon Thiedemann and Eric Gastineau, also with a net 61.  Payout was to the top 20% in each division.

All members and guests were pooled together and placed in flights for the overall net and net skins prizes.  Our total low net winners by respective flights were Pete de Boer (net 69), John Carroll (net 63), Rich Miller (net 68) and Sean McGroarty & Joe Willis (tied at net 67).  Net skins varied by flight.  Flight 1 had 8 skins with Steve Hess & Steve Gibbs each taking a pair.  Flight 2 had only 4 skins.  Flight 3 had 9 skins with Leon Tomasyan, Bruce Green and Russ Barrett taking pairs.  Flight 4 had only 3 skins, topping the double skins in value.

The weather was great, crossing several climate zones if you started early enough.  Thanks to Peter Cary for directing and scoring this complicated tournament.  The communication from members on guest information and notice on the few cancellations was most helpful.

Problems in flight assignments were noted after the initial results were posted on Oct 20th.  Corrections have been made.  This resulted in some changes in skins results.  Most results were not affected.  These links are to the corrected versions as of Oct 21st.  Sorry for the confusion.  Let us know if you have any questions.

The day was a mixed bag of weather to be sure.  The early groups had to make sure to hit the ball straight for the first hour or so due to the fog that must have hampered their ability to see the ball after it was hit!  Eventually the sun broke through, as it usually does, and the rest of the day was typically sunny and nice.

I think everyone enjoyed the alternate scoring format, but especially the winners of the the 2 team flights!  Flight 1 winners with a net 89 team score (beating the nearest competition by 7 strokes!) were Bret Bauer / Mark Thomas / Steve Hess / Russ Barrett.  Flight 2 winners with a team score of 94 were Jim Rossman / Alonzo Monk / Bill Walker / (Bill McCrea was randomly chosen as the blind to round out the team scoring format.)  Congrats to both teams!

Individual Net winners were:

Flight 1 - Mike Supple with a net 66
Flight 2 - Doug Peterson with a net 68
Flight 3 - Russell Barrett with a net 61
Flight 4 - Sharon Thiedemann with a net 69

There were 28 skins won across the 4 flights, with Doug Peterson, Burnie Presho, Russ Barrett, Butch May, and Sherry Howard winning 2 skins each!

We had a total of 80 golfers today, thanks for a good turnout.  I hope everyone enjoyed the day!

Thanks, Dan Hudgins and Bret Bauer, Tournament Directors

 Summary Results *Here*
As always check the results for obvious errors.  I don’’t know where to start in my description of today’s play.
I think that the great weather brought out the best in our club.  Before I get to the winners let me recap a few things.  We had 19 members shoot gross scores in the 70s with the lowest being 72 shot by both Alex Cruz and Greg Prough, good job.  There were 9 net scores in the 60’s with the low being 66 by yours truly.  9 of our members got a natural birdie on #8 and 4 got a natural birdie on #9.
The team indexes ranged from a low of 32 to a high of 130 so I split the team contest into 2 flights.  The winners of Flight 1 were Plummer, Stranak, Willis, and Kim with 106 Stableford Points, and Flight 2 winners were Arnold, Dague, Kennedy, and Rostrum with 105 points.  The difference in first and last in Flight 1 was only 20 points and Flight  2 it was 27 points.  These were close contests.
The individual Flight winners were Plummer, Flight 1, Presho Flight 2, Rostrum Flight 3, and Schomberg Flight 4.  As you can see the winners in the individual flights helped their teams.
Many Skins were won today, Flight 1 (4) Fitzgibbons, Haeger, Walker, Wittemore; Flight 2 (5) Greenberg(2), Stranak, Presho, Andersen; Flight 3 (12) Rostrum(3), Green(2), McCrea, Baccaro, Kramer, Miller, Aasland, Wittemore, Howard J; Flight 4 (4) Rossman, Nevins, Thiedemann, Howard S.  CTPs were wn by Fitzgibbons, Ludlow, Arnold Green, Thiedemann, and Gastineau.
Everyone should be proud of the way the group played today.  I know that some feel they should have won a skin on a certain hole but everyone played so well that you probably were tied by someone else.  I personally had 4 birdies and won none.
Great playing!!
On a clean up note.  I know that it said on the sign up sheet that we were using 100% of your index for the team event, that was a typo.  We use 85% of your indexes as recommended by the USGA when we have this type of a team competition.  So today we used 85% for team play and 100% for individual play.
Off to Hawaii, Ron Plummer, Tournament Director
