Mesa Linda was in about as good a condition to play as ever, with 7 out of 82 players coming in below net par.

The lowest handicap flight played the blue tees, and was won by Ned Whittemore with a net 68.  Ned's 76 was also the lowest gross of the day.  Flight 2 produced a 4 way tie for first between John Carroll, Doug Peterson, Arnie Aparicaio and Dan Kim, all with net 70's.  Robert Simpson led flight 3 with a net 67.  Sherry Howard won overall low net honors in flight 4, with her net 64!

Kevin Dreiling was our only winner of multiple skins, outscoring the others in flight 4 on holes 12, 15 and 18.

Thanks to Dave Basile for setting up and scoring this tournament.

Don Miyada 1925 to 2023

Don Miyada passed on Friday, April 21st at home. a month shy of his 98th birthday.  He was a member of the CMSGA since 1986.  He was still golfing with us less than a year ago.  He has been recognized on the CMSGA Hall of Champions many times.  Don's life and persona were remarkable.  He will be missed.

We had a total of 61 golfers.  Not the typical number we see on tournament days, but I think those that attended enjoyed themselves, despite it staying cool all day and the sun not showing itself once!

Thanks, Dan Hudgins, Tournament Director

Playing with four clubs changes the game, but it is a fun exercise on occasion.  Bob Baker clearly has more clubs in his bag than he really needs, as he posted the lowest net of the day (65).  There were only two other sub par nets.  Jim Ortale had a 67, finishing second in flight to Bob.  Larry Newman won his flight with a 69.  Bill Walker won Flight 1 with a 70.  Tim Bjeiland took low gross honors at 75.

Larry Newman, Dan Hudgins, Bob Baker, Robert May, Jim Ortale and Sharon Theidemann each won a pair of skins from the 23 awarded overall.

Thanks to those who played and to Dan Hudgins for directing and scoring this tournament.

Thanks to all who braved the unpredictable weather yesterday.  It turned out to be a very nice day overall after some early rain and a brief shower mid-morning!

Of the 90 that were scheduled to play, we we ended up with 83 players.  Despite the moisture we still had some low team scores and low net individual scores as well.

Congrats to the team of Rustrum/Kennedy/Haeger/Cruz for taking first place in flight 1 with a -16 team score, and Baccaro/Kramer/Walls,/Westermeyer for first place in flight 2 with a team score of -12.

In individual net play, flight 1 we had 4 players (Mike Supple, Pete deBoer, Joe Kelly and Alex Cruz) tie for first with net 67's (hats off to Alex Cruz for a gross 67!).  The flight 2 winner, Steve Stranak, also shot 67.  Flight 3 ended in a 3 way tie at the top between Robert Simpson, Damian Wilkerson and Tom Kennedy.  In flight 4, Jim Ortale won with the lowest individual net of the day (64).

There were a total of 22 skins won across 4 flights.  Jim Ortale and Hoyt Etter were our only winners of more than one skin.

All in all, a fun day for everyone I hope.

Dan Hudgins, Tournament Director
