CMSGA Handicaps and Score Posting

 HANDICAP NOTES FOR NEW/EXISTING MEMBERS

The USGA Handicap System enables golfers of all skill levels to compete on an equitable basis.  The accuracy of each CMSGA member’s handicap is what allows us to conduct monthly tournaments that offer a degree of parity to all participants.  To insure an accurate handicap for all members, each member should:

  • Post all home and away scores on the day of completion at the course computer, from your home computer (GHIN or SCGA website) or mobile device (GHIN app), except for CMSGA events.

  • The club will post all CMSGA eligible event scores as competition rounds.  The Handicap Chairman will review the accuracy of postings.

  • When posting, adjust your gross score using Equitable Stroke Control (ESC).  Determine your playing handicap based on your current index of the day, the course and tees played.  A net double bogie is the highest score to be posted on an individual hole. If you choose to post scores using GHIN's hole by hole option, the GHIN program will make this adjustment for you.

Please periodically review posted scores for accuracy, not only as to score, but also course and tees.

  • If you need any help or questions answered about posting scores/handicap, please contact CMSGA’s handicap chairman: cmseniorsgolf@gmail.com

  • If you have posted an incorrect score, corrections can be made by the handicap chairman.
