Presidents Cup 2022

President's Cup Brackets - Results and Next Rounds

Match play is one of golf’s major forms of competition.  Our club offers you one opportunity each year to experience this variation, with rules and strategy that slightly differ from our customary stroke play tournaments.

Contact information for entrants has been shared by email, so the matches can be arranged or rearranged as needed.  If you need help in reaching your competitor, send an email to cmseniorsgolf@gmail.com. and we can help.  We have reserved a time for you to play your first round opponent on Thursday, February 3rd, alongside our regular tournament on Mesa Linda.  We will likely continue that for the remaining rounds.  The entry fee is $12 paid only once for the duration of the tournament.  Prize money will be awarded to the two finalists in each flight.

The matches may be played on either Mesa Linda or Los Lagos from any tee.  The competitors must agree on the date, time, course and tee.  You will need to know how to calculate your Course Handicap on the morning of play.  Current indexes should be used and converted to a course handicap for the match.  The lower handicap player plays to scratch, while the higher handicap player receives strokes based on the difference in course handicaps and the ranking of the hole.

For convenience, for the first round, we have reserved tee times for President’s Cup matches.  Please confirm if those times will be used.  Otherwise, they will be released to all members.  You will not be playing in the stroke play tournament for skins or net prizes.  Tee times have been in high demand.  Please plan ahead and communicate to minimize scheduling problems.

The first match should be completed by February 3rd, the second by February 17th, the third by March 3rd, and the final round by April 7th.  There is some flexibility in the schedule, but sticking to these dates as much as possible is the most fair for everyone.

After each match, the scorecard must be dropped into our locker room slot.  The gross score for each hole must be entered for both players.  Per USGA handicap rules, if a player does not finish a hole or is conceded a stroke, record the most likely score for handicap purposes. A most likely score is the number of strokes already taken, plus in the player's best judgment, the number of strokes needed to complete the hole from that point more than half the time.  The club will post all scores (adjusted for ESC).

We have 29 players signed up, divided into two flights.  Please familiarize yourself with match play rules, as there are some important differences from our stroke play events.
