Despite our tournament landing on a maintenance week, and facing some wind, many were able to score well. At one point, we expected 90 players, but that number plummeted to 76. We lost about 10 players in the last day, which makes pairings and teams a challenge. Thanks to those who played and helped us consolidate our times fairly efficiently by moving. In the end, we had four threesomes that needed blinds for their team score.
The hottest team in brisk conditions was Dave Basile, Mike Drennen, Bill McCrea and Tom Ebert. They scored 13 under par and won by 2 strokes. We had a three way tie for second. Our scorecards did not show the correct team handicaps for our women, but that was corrected before the final scoring.
Our lowest gross score of the day was 71. Three players from flight 1 tied for that honor: Dick O'Neil, Tim Bjeland and Ryan Haeger. The remaining flight gross honors went to Bart Greenberg (79), Doug Rustrum (85) and Robert Simpson (89). The low net standout was Bart Greenberg in flight 2 with a 66. Tim Bjeland (70), Doug Rustrum (68) and a tie between Robert Simpson and Joe Mohney (71) topped the other flights
21 skins were won, with Bart Greenberg taking 3 as the only multiple winner. Bruce Green won CTP's on both #15 and #17.
Two President's Cup matches were completed with Greg Prough and Jim Meyer now in the finals. Their opponents will be determined in matches later this month.
Thanks to Dan Hudgins for organizing and scoring this tournament. Dan is leaving tomorrow to watch his grandson compete in the prestigious National High School Invitational baseball tournament.
