August 18th Tournament

August 18th Third Thursday Tournament Results Here

The weather was a bit warm yesterday at times, but overall it was great golf weather!  I saw a lot of happy faces at the bar in the afternoon, so I think everyone enjoyed themselves as usual.

In Flight 1, Bill Walker took home 1st place honors with 47 points, followed by Peter Cary in 2nd with 45 points, Mike McClanahan finished 3rd with 43 points, Gene Ramirez claimed 4th with 42 points, and there was a 3-way tie for 5th place at 41 points between Steve Stranak, Joe Edles, and Gary Bennett.

In Flight 2, Chris Aasland took 1st place with 44 points, Marrietta Payne was in 2nd place with 43 points, there was a tie for 3rd place between Jim Alhandy and Tom Ebert with 42 points, and a 3-way tie for 5th at 41 points between Dean Skinner, Sean McGroarty, and Tom Kennedy.

In Flight 3, Jim Rossman came in 1st with 50 points, Kevin Dreiling was in 2nd place at 47 points, there was a tie for 3rd place at 40 points between Julie Chien and Hank Lopez, and a 3-way tie for 5th at 39 points between Neil Slater, Richard Palmer, and Kent Cowgur.

Skins winners were as follows:

Flight 1 - $24/skin

Jim Meyer had 2 skins with Eagles on holes 2 & 14 (nice job Jim!)

Bill Walker had 1 skin with a Birdied on hole 10

Dave Basile had 1 skin with an Eagle on hole 15

Mike Edles had 1 skin with a Birdie on hole 5

Flight 2 - 0 skins awarded

According to Bill, this is situation is as rare as hens teeth!  It has never occurred in Bill's time with the club that he can recall.  After hearing that, I went back and rechecked all of the scores I entered for everyone in flight 2 to ensure the were no entry errors, I found none, so it looks like we have club first!  

Flight 3 - $15/skin

Hoyt Etter had 2 skins with Birdies on holes 2 & 11 (nice job Hoyt!)

Kevin Dreiling also had 2 skins with Birdies on holes 3 & 14 (nice job Kevin!)

Jim Rossman (Birdie on 4), Julie Chien (Birdie on 5), Neil Slater (Birdie on 12), and Bruce Green (Par on 9) each had 1 skin.

Thanks to Dan for taking on this tournament.  Dan mentions the unusual results in the Flight 2 skins.  Every single hole was matched by another player, so no skins were won.  Our plan is to credit back the portion of the entry fee used to cover skins ($5) to the 24 golfers in Flight 2.  Apologies to Jim Meyer for the extra accounting.  Scores from this tournament do not apply to our September 15th Championships.
