December 15th Third Thursday Summary Results *Here*
We had a wonderful day of golf. Only a couple of members did not show up. Please let us know if you need to withdraw. An email is fine, even after the fact, so that we can credit your balance. With enough notice, we may be able to consolidate teams.
For this team event we had to use some blinds to fill in the team. I used a playing member who had an almost identical handicap index as the player that was missing. By only paying out to 20% we only had 2 teams in each flight in the money. Dean Skinner was used as a blind for a team and helped them come in 1st in the B Flight.
Complete Hole by Hole Details *Here*
The teams of Drennen / Supple/ McCrea/ Ebert & Mohney / Hudgins / Bennett / Jurczak tied for first in team flight 1 with 12 under par (using 85% handicaps). Flight 2 was won by Rossman / Lejnieks / Simpson / [blind:Skinner] with 11 under par.
With reduced handicaps, low nets were rare. Jim Rossman was our only player under net par, with a 69.
The most difficult hole for our group was #14 par 5, with the average gross score running 1.7 strokes over par. The easiest was #11 par 3, at 0.8 strokes over par.
Thanks to Ron for directing and scoring this tournament.
Guilty. I returned from a 200 guest wedding and three day party several days ago and was called by the organizer to alert my wife and I that many of the guests had come down with Covid. I tested negative twice leading up to the tournament but decided at midnight Wednesday to remove myself from the tournament out of caution and respect for the other players. I was unaware that a call was expected, my apologies to the director for the inconvenience and poor etiquette. Best regards,

Speaking for myself, I appreciate the decision you made to withdraw out of caution for the club members. That the decision was reached last minute is also understandable, based on the circumstances. Stay well, stay negative (Covid-testing-wise), and keep it on the fairway. 👍

ReplyDeleteThank you Jeff. Do you have the number to call in the event of a late cancellation.
ReplyDeleteHi Scott. My guess is that a last minute cancellation (like realizing the evening before, or morning of the event) would be to call the Golf Course early AM, (714) 540-7500. They have our printout of players and times, and can cross you off. This way, the other players in the group are not waiting on the tee wondering if they will be joined. If cancellation is known 24hrs or more in advance, an email to the club address should provide the notice needed. I will get this confirmed and clarified, and added to a note on the signup sheet. Jeff
DeleteThank you Jeff. I did not realize the office handles that, I am sure one could even leave a message if it was late. I appreciate your time, have a Merry Christmas. 🎄
