The weather kept a few people home today, but I'd say it was a bad decision on their part because the rain was minimal and early.  The rest of the day was fine. 

We had 13 no-shows after the cards were printed, so there was a little shuffling around of a few teams and players, but when it was all reassembled to create complete 2 person teams, we ended up 58 golfers and 29 teams.  I did have to place 3 golfers randomly to fill in a few holes even though these teams did not play together; Tom Kennedy was teamed with Anthony Baccaro, Bob Angel was teamed with Gary Bennett, and Conrad Wilson was teamed with Ed Chavez.  Below are some of results.

Today started with some wind then it went away.  We had summer like weather for the rest of the round.  We do the shamble format infrequently.  It gives some a chance to score a low round.  This round is not posted to GHIN,  

There were 7 teams that separated from the pack, scoring 23 under par or lower.  The winning foursome was the team of Skirvin, Kim, Howard, and Howard with 29 under par. The CTP winners were Klemens, Ludlow, Kirchgessner, McGroarty, McClanahan, and Schneider.  Congratulations to all of our winners today.

Our first group finished in around 3:40 with our last group around 5:10.  We had six withdrawals shortly before the tournament.  The heads up was appreciated.  With earlier notice, we may have been able to consolidate our groups to have less threesomes.

February tournaments are back to the first and third Thursday so set it up in your calendar.

It turned out to be a pretty good day to play golf.  The winds were kind to us and the sun came out.  

This is the first tournament that I can think of in the 15 years I have been doing this that we could not accommodate all that wanted to play.  We had 3 players still on the waitlist at tee time this morning.  We still had one member who did not show up and did not message anyone as to his absence.  Please, Please let Bill and the tournament director know as soon as you decide if you are not playing.  

Now the winners. Team First Place Honors were shared by two teams. Basile, Stranak, Willis, and Kirchgessner  and  Fitzgibbons, Kearns, Ludlow, and Schilling  both teams had a 121 net for 19 under.

Low net in Flight B goes to Stranak net 67

Low net in Flight C goes to Thornton and Baccaro each with  net 71

Low net in Flight D goes to Lopez net 67

And the overall low gross was Mr. Ludlow with an eye popping 66.

Multiple skins (27) were won today.  Steve Stranak, John Westermeyer and Sherry Howard were winners of two.

On a sad note I was just advised that one of our members had their childhood home lost in the devastating fires that we see every night on TV.  We extend our condolences to him and his family.

The playing conditions were fine, but only a few managed to score well.  The lowest team score was 15 under par using two best balls net, by Damian Wilkerson / Robert Simpson / Neil Slater / Julie Chien.

Our lowest gross scores by flight were Dick O'Neil (72), Todd Schmieder (81), Sean McGroarty (85) and Neil Slater (89).  The lowest nets were Marty Burns (69), Dave Wilson & Todd Schmeider (67), Sean McGroarty (69) and Neil Slater (68).

Steve Stranak and Neil Slater each won three skins.  Mike McClanahan, Don Spreeman, and King Ling Wong each had a pair.

Thanks to Dan Hudgins for setting up and scoring this tournament.  Thanks to our members for showing up in force.  86 players is a large number for Los Lagos.

The SCGA hosted a collection of tournaments on December 2nd for the club champions of it's member clubs.  Our club champions from this year both competed.  

Todd Danly, our 2024 Club Champion (net),  placed in the middle of his flight at Tahquitz Creek Golf Resort in Palm Springs.  

Dick O'Neil, our 2024 Club Champion, tied for 10th in a field of over 80 players.  Dick played at the Spanish Hills Club in Camarillo in the event for senior golfers with low single digit index.  Thanks to Todd and Dick for representing us well.

We ran into several conflicts when limiting ourselves to First and Third Thursday's.  We had to use a number of Second and Fourth Thursdays to avoid days with holiday rates and less rounds on Mesa Linda.  The months of February, March, June, August, November and December are still First and Third Thursday tournaments.  The months of January, April, May, July, September and October are now Second and Fourth Thursday tournaments.  The spacing between tournaments remains at either two or three weeks.
