Understanding the (New) Event Results

On this page I will try and explain some of the event results we are presenting.

The pdf version of the results I think is pretty easy to understand. It begins with listing all the competitors by flight, their total net scores, and if they finished in the money. This is followed with a listing of the Skins winners in each flight. It ends with a list of the Closest to Pin winners. It is a summary of the event participants and winners.

The spreadsheet version has a LOT more information, and can be a bit daunting to absorb.

The spreadsheet actually consists of multiple individual sheets, each of which contain different information. All of the sheets are listed along the bottom, but may not all be visible to select because of the qty of sheets and the names of the sheets.

One easy way to navigate through the sheets is to click the 4 Lines at bottom left. This will pop-up a listing of all the sheets, and you can select which one you want to view.

The sheets that have all the scores for each hole can be confusing. Below is a ship from the Individual Net results sheet.

The scores shown for each hole are 'net' scores. In the above example, Paul received 20 strokes, and when those strokes were allocated to individual holes, the result is a net score for each hole. (NOTE: The above is not related to the Skins Competition).

Paul's net 33 on the front and net 33 on the back equals the net 66 shown on far right. Paul's Gross score was 86, and that is shown under the column labeled "Total".

The above does not show us Paul's gross score for each hole. You would need to look at the hole ratings to then determine where the handicap strokes were allocated to determine his gross score. (We may look at reporting actual gross scores by hole, which would mimic the cards everyone turns in).

Regarding the color fill in each hole score:

  • Aqua = net eagle
  • Green = net birdie
  • No color = net par
  • Light Orange = net bogie
  • Dark Orange - net double bogie or higher

Now lets look at a results page from the Skins competition.

You will notice that Paul only receives (2) strokes for the skins competition, compared to the (20) strokes he received in the Individual Net competition. The reason for this difference is something I explained in a previous post, linked to here.

The color coding is same as I described above.

Paul won (1) skin on the front, no skins on back, for a total of (1) skin. And while Paul did indeed win his skin on hole #1, you really need to see the complete sheet (not just the snip above) to see where skins were won or tied.

I will update this page with other tips as I think of them, or based on comments and questions from members.

***Update 10/9/22***

On the spreadsheet results, I moved the various sheets around so that from left to right, the first (3) sheets provide the results we are used to seeing: Net Winners, Skins, and CTP.

One thing that is missing from the "Net Scores, Winners, All Flights" sheet are player gross scores. We will look into adding that.

    1. I will ask the TD's if it is possible to have the pdf version include the players gross scores, as I agree this is pertinent info. I also think the players indexes and/or course handicap should be shown. Thank you for the input!
