CMSGA is an SCGA affiliate club, with membership consisting of local seniors. Tournaments are held on alternate Thursdays of each month, on either Mesa Linda or Los Lagos - the two 18 hole courses at the Costa Mesa Country Club.
Our First Thursday tournament will be played on Los Lagos. The team format will be two players, scoring one best ball net. Individual competitions by flight include gross, net and skins. Our 2025 attempt to regain the Scotch Cup trophy begins July 10th on Mesa Linda and ends July 16th at Laguna Woods. Our team Sign Up starts now. We need 18 players for each of two rounds. The team roster for each round will be selected on June 9th from the list of interested players. The criteria for selection will be availability, index and recent performance.
Our annual 4 club tournament today was fun as always. Great weather, with 80 total players made it enjoyable for all I hope. Being limited to 4 clubs was not particularly challenging for some of us apparently, as there were some very low scores today! 6 birdies on #8, multiple skins in all flights, and a 5-way tie for 3rd place in the team event are examples of how well some adjusted to the lack of club selection available. Congrats to all the winners.
The winning team of Baccaro, Walls, Westermeyer and Kramer shot 11 under par. A score that could win with 14 clubs. The individual scores were slightly higher than our norm, as expected. The low gross winners by flight were Ned Whittemore (75), Bill Cloud & Sean McGorarty (both 82), Anthony Baccaro (85) and John Westermeyer (84). The low net flights were led by Bill Walker & Pete DeBoer (both 70), Sean McGroarty (69), Anthony Baccaro (68) and John Westermeyer (66).
The net skins stars were Bill Walker, Ned Whittemore and Leon Tomasyan winning two apiece. Ned Whittemore also claimed two CTP's (#2 & #6).
Thanks to Dan Hudgins for setting up and scoring this tournament. These scores will not be posted to GHIN. A correction to the team results was made at 10:30 on 5/23/25 showing a five way team tie for second.
